Aztaro Reviews: Trillian Instant messanger

The review for this day is

Trillian Instant messenger
[Update] Site: Trillian.im
This is one of those "all in one messengers" that uses accounts from other instant messengers and some social networking sites so instead of haveing one program for each, you get one program for them all! It can support MSN, AIM, Skype, Facebook, Twitter and many more. With not only the text part of instant messaging you can also send pictures [the file itself or a version that can be opened via internet program], screenshots, and drawings. Don't worry I didn't forget to add that if your messenger can support calling or voice communications Trillian supports that too. They also sort each account separately so that your e-mails can be seen as how many new ones you have. Trillian also sorts your contacts by the provider or service and when they are offline it will be put into one big "Offline" section. For the social networking accounts it has it's own separate tab so you can see posts as they are being posted without having to be in your internet window. Also when ever someone is online or a post is made in say Facebook, it can be shown in a little message that can pop up on your screen. To save insanity if your a popular person or liked to many pages these notifications can be customized to only appear for a certain amount of time or to stack themselves together or even not show up at all. Also in the messenger itself you can program it to do certain things when something happens like if your away it can give people messages of when or how long you've been away as well as noises to when someone on a certain provider has logged in. Speaking of sounds, every sound and more can be customized to your hearts content.

Personal thoughts [Like I say, skip if you don't want to hear this]: I use this program because it saves memory, really I had over 6 IM systems and it took a toll on my hard drive [back when maxes were 40-80 GB, remember those days?]. It's convenient, it's small in size, it's sound and being able to check my e-mail with a double click instead of going through finding every site to check all my e-mails is a plus. Though one problem that doesn't bother me to badly but is something I believe they are working on for future updates is video support. Not a luck of it besides taking a picture of yourself with a webcam and sending it to the other person, no face to face chats. But what I've heard is video chats may soon be on the horizon but I might be imagining things again.

This is good for people who need multiple accounts to keep in touch with friends that seem to be stubborn to their account names on a certain provider. Definitely something to look into, I know there are others but I'll only check them if someone requests it.

Aztaro Reviews: Microsoft Gadgets [Side Bar]

This one is brought up because I don't have much time do to classes and I forgot what I was going to actually review

We can review Microsoft Side Bar or Microsoft Gadgets [believe either name works]
This is as well as another stock program used in Windows 7 with little -ahem- gadgets that are set on the side of your screen. Some of the default gadgets are clocks, calendars, picture viewer, etc... Though they have some luxury of saving you time with looking at your stocks or the computer's performance without having to google them or checking them yourself. They also have some neat games, a piano and I believe some other neat things too but others you'll have to download from others or make yourself. Unless your fluent with C++ or any coding for computers you'll be stuck with the default items of weather checking and clocks. These can save time with looking things up on your desktop and if you down load the right gadget you can make life simpler in the way of your choosing. Though it is named Side bar it doesn't live up to that name with it's repositioning anywhere on your monitor.

Personal Review [Like I said, skip this if you don't care]: I only use it for the clock because, like I said earlier, my taskbar is on auto-hide so I can't see my clock at all times and so the clock benefits me but I have yet to see a good gadget, I'm not saying it's bad but most of the gadgets I find don't appeal to what I do or are thought out enough to do what I'd like. I'm not saying it's bad but I think it was an experiment that Microsoft wanted to try.

This is good for convenience but it was brought up to suddenly with no user friendly way of a "make your own gadget" feature. This has some basic things that can help but not that thought through. This is a "if you need it" kind of program not a "I want it because it does stuff".

Sorry this is so short and not so thought out, time crunched and not prepared, see ya

Aztaro Reviews: Stickies from Zhorn Software

This may seem like a repeat but a friend found my Blogger [and took advantage of the request thing, wow I feel important] and showed me a link to a different kind of program about sticky notes

Today I'm reviewing Zhorn Software's program called Stickies
This is a simple sticky note program that can do a lot more and still be simple enough to operate. It has some of the best simple features as in saved locations, colour select, resizing and other good features. The thing that makes this program excel is that it works more like actual sticky notes in real life. You know the kind you can stick where ever and not just on a cork board. For example if you want to only put a sticky note on a webpage for your next visit you can go through the simple right-click interface and choose that webpage in the list of running programs. This can be pinned to multiple sites or even programs, for example it can be pinned to a game on your computer to remind you to try to beat a score your friend had just bragged about or to remind you at a certain point you need to go tend to your village. Another neat feature is the ability to add alarms to your notes so if you need to be reminded of something at either a specific time or date, the note won't appear till that time comes with a little shaking animation. Another plus is these notes have an option to attach files to them or even viewable pictures with a simple drag and drop.

Personal Opinion Time [skip at your leisure]: This is probably going to be my greatest ally in my fight to remember things. Stickys did kick Microsoft Sticky Notes out of the water with functionality because of the program being such a small file and taking up almost no space on my hard drive. Stickies had no drawing feature though why would you need to with so many other programs MENT for drawing. So kicking one questionable feature for a sea of attach to files/webpage, photo viewing, time management features was more than worth dropping a sticky note program with the only feature is drawing and staying there. This program even has an option to keep it above windows or to "roll" the note up so it doesn't clutter your screen.

One last thing before the wrap-up is there is an option to transfer them over to another computer but I don't have a need for that -yet-. I even asked the requester and they only had one computer so this option is probably for those who are on the go a lot.

This is probably one of the ultimate "I'll help you remember" programs that I've ever seen and with more colour options and customizable font, it's hard for me to ever roll up the notes when I can make them as good as I would like them to look with my desktop wallpaper.

Aztaro Reviews: Microsoft Sticky Notes

Start something on this so I'll review the first thing I see [avoiding my background]

And that is one of the freeware programs that comes default with Windows 7
Sticky Notes
Before anything, aww cute fish, back on track now this is a program that comes included with Windows 7. These are good for keeping notes on your desktop instead of your monitor. These are resizable so if you only need a quick note you can make them nice and small so they don't cover icons or large if you need to be specific. You can also make multiple notes and even colour them for some more personalization. Microsoft also added another little feature so if your monitor is touch enabled or if you have a tablet the note can be written on with that so you can add doodles or write notes yourself. Also the notes can be saved so if you need to close out of the program or have to shut down for an update, all you have to do is open the program and there's your grocery list back to haunt you about the milk and bread. I use them myself because I have terrible memory if it doesn't involve humour or video games.

The only problem I have with it and this is a personal one not a program problem [so if you don't care about my opinion skip this paragraph] is the fact you can minimize or close out of the sticky notes. If you don't pay attention your "To Do:" list will be in your taskbar and out of site. I have an obsession of viewing my desktop wallpaper [because I take pride in my backgrounds] so I also have my taskbar on auto-hide which makes it poof away when not highlighted so I tend to forget to look at my notes.

This is a great program for us "would lose our heads if they weren't attached" kind of people and I suggest you at least look into it, who knows it may become a regular program for your daily use

The Start of Everything [AKA the boring part]

Hello, I shall review things either by coming across them randomly or by request though requests maybe hard if I can't acquire them in some fashion

So first review will be Blogger itself
Network of people, for the social or for others to keep current on things
Blogging, reviewing, sharing, opinionating, showcasing and more
This is my first opinions of it and think it's a good site so far but will my activity get the best of me?

Don't forget if you want someone's opinion, why not Aztaro?
